Becoming Even More Effective Pupils & Students

Why would you do this?

All that we believe about being effective staff members also applies to your pupils, only more so! We believe that this material should be shared with pupils on day 1 of primary school, just because it’s a fantastic way of organising life so that you can get the most out of it. Great habits in thinking, established over years, will affect positive outcomes in just about every aspect of school life including:

  • Attendance & punctuality
  • Behaviour
  • Study skills & independent learning
  • Relationships with parents, staff and peers
  • Exam results

What will we do?

Pupils will be using a system based on the American educator, author, & businessman, Steven Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People”. There are 4 parts to the training:

  • Where am I coming from?
  • How can I improve my personal effectiveness?
  • How can I perform better with others?
  • Staying kind and authentic to myself

The structure of the course is the same as for the INSET, the materials, however, will be adapted depending on the age group we are working with.

How will we do it?

We propose three methods of delivering this material to your pupils:

  1. We can train the staff and then they can deliver it to the students
  2. We can attend school over a number of sessions and deliver to students directly
  3. A mixture of 1 & 2. We train the staff in our methods, equipping them to deliver it in the future

How will it fit in to what you do?

Habits are interesting things: they are the behaviours we do without consciously being aware of them. The main aim here is to replace ineffective habits with better ways of organising our lives and solving problems. At its most basic this might result in a better work-life balance for individual pupils and students. At the other end of the spectrum of results, it provides an opportunity to make the ethos of your organisation or school even better.
