Becoming Even More Effective Staff Members

Why would you do this?

A school year is a bit like running a marathon. As it progresses we are still committed to the young people and pupils, and still wanting what’s best for the school. However, the truth is, we just lose effectiveness like a marathon runner who hits “The Wall”. This training gives you and your staff a tried and tested method of working that provides a sustainable sense of focus, purpose, and increased effectiveness whilst staying kind and authentic to ourselves.

What will we do?

We will be exploring and will be using a system based on the American educator, author, & businessman, Steven Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People”. There are 4 parts to the training:

  • Where am I coming from?
  • How can I improve my personal effectiveness?
  • How can I perform better with others?
  • Staying kind and authentic to myself

How will we do it?

We will set up a series of workshops for you and your staff to visit. They will be very interactive, reflecting our belief in the effectiveness of experiential learning, so be warned, this is not a spectator sport! We can tailor the course to fit with your requirements. As a minimum we would need a full day to cover all the 4 areas listed above, but ideally we would like to offer two full days of training so that everyone gets a chance to really engage with the programme. These can be consecutive days, and they can be spread across the academic year. Participants will be provided with a resource pack at the end of the training so can they refer back, making the training sustainable once it finishes.

How will it fit in to what you do?

Habits are interesting things: they are the behaviours we do without really thinking about them. The main aim here is to replace less effective habits with better ways of organising our lives and solving problems. At its most basic this might result in a better work-life balance for individual members of staff. At the other end of the spectrum of results, it provides an opportunity to make the ethos of your organisation or school even better.
